祈話（二）：Close to You

近幾年不斷想學習英語，令自己不致出醜於人前。可是，對於語言天分不高的人，在非英語環境裡學好英文看來十分困難。

有說其中一個學習英文的方法是聽外語歌曲。我令我想起曾經有一陣子，我以整理情歌歌詞為興趣，期間也學會了不少生字。看來「聽歌學英文」也不是不可行的方法？就讓我試試每天都聽＆推介一首英文歌吧！

第一首我要推介的歌是Close To You。這是一首十分受歡迎的歌曲，本是Richard Chamberlain的歌，卻由Carpenters於70年代唱紅它。在2012年，曹格於其專輯以jazz重新演譯這首歌。

這首歌的歌名叫Close to You，即「靠近你」。為何要靠近「你」？因為「你」太吸引了！填詞者透過歌詞帶出「你」的吸引力：每當「你」出現，怕人的雀鳥也會被「你」吸引，靠近「你」的身邊；星星也會從天上跌在「你」的身旁；鎮上每一位女孩也被「你」吸引著。

「你」的吸引力源於出生當日，天使們刻意將「你」變得吸引：把月亮的塵灑在「你」的金髮上，使其更閃閃生輝；又把星光投放在「你」的藍眼睛上，使其更醉人。

整首歌的歌詞十分言簡意賅，最深的字就是sprinkle，是灑上的意思。另外，聽者可學會一些日常會用的字，例如：

1. Long to：希望
2. Walk by：靠近
3. A dream come true：夢想成真
4. Follow you all around：跟著你四處走

最後，要留意當唱歌者唱「So they sprinkled moon dust in your hair of gold，And starlight in your eyes of blue」時，他們為了配合歌曲而將「hair of gold」分成「hair」和「of gold」，令聽者不明所以。這時便要靠看歌詞來聽明白了！
